Improve Health With Herbal Vitamins

Average Score: (0 votes)

Herbal supplements and vitamin supplements are often interchanged. Most herbs contain some vitamins. Vitamins are usually either synthetic or derived from animals, herbs or fruit. From this close association, the concept for herbal vitamins emerged.

Vitamins, whether derived from herbs or from another source, are essential to the proper functioning of the human body. Herbal vitamins can provide support to the human body in the forms of healthy growth, vitality and overall health.

Dietary Supplements

A dietary supplement is a product that a person takes by mouth, which contains nutritional ingredients meant for addition to the normal diet. These extra nutritional ingredients may include minerals, vitamins, botanicals, herbs, amino acids, organ tissues, metabolites and glandular. Ingredients like extracts or combinations such as soft gels, liquids, oils, capsules, tablets and powders can also constitute a dietary supplement.

Classifications of Dietary Supplements

The dietary supplements can be classified into the following four classes.

Herbs and Botanicals

Dietary supplements of herbs consist of natural products. These products are active ingredients or extracts from plant roots, stems, seeds, leaves, flowers or buds. An herbal product can be an extract of two or more active ingredients or they may be whole plant. Herbal extracts are being used to maintain low cholesterol, good health and help in disease control. People generally have a wrong view that because they are natural, these dietary supplements are good for health.

Herbal memory vitamins may help you from memory loss that can be both frustrating and embarrassing. While you may lose precious time in the morning by trying to remember where you put your car keys, it may embarrass you to ask for your client's name again during a business meeting. Memory loss can be due to several factors including age, poor eating habits or leading a sedentary life.

Nutrients contained in the Grape seed extract have shown to protect the brain by preventing neuronal toxicity. While other herbal memory vitamins and food supplements are usually recommended for adults, Ginkgo biloba enhances memory in young individuals. Research has shown that this readily available extract improves cognitive function in people suffering from dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.

Other popular herbal memory vitamins include Vitamin E and B. Low levels of Vitamin E may increase the risk of neurological diseases including the dreaded Parkinson’s. Similarly adequate intake of vitamins B6 and B12 are essential for proper brain function. People who are not taking these vitamins in required quantities are known to suffer from memory loss, dementia, and forgetfulness.

The Federal Trade Commission advises that while the benefits of some health products are well documented, others have no proven benefits and may even be dangerous. It is the responsibility of the health supplement manufacturers to insure that the products they sell are safe. These are general statements that apply to all health supplements, but apply to herbal remedies, menopause treatments and vitamins for menopause, as well. It is the consumer’s chore to evaluate the effectiveness of these remedies by “giving them a try” or by researching the product ingredients.
